The Member representing Essien Udim State Constituency in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Prince Ukpong Akpabio II, KSJI, has been endorsed by the President of tthe Senate, Senator Dr Godswill Akpabio, GCON, to run for a second term in office come 2027, alongside the Member representing Ikot Ekpene/Essien Udim/Obot Akara Federal Constituency,. Hon Dr Patrick Umoh, KSJI.
Speaking during the Essien Udim APC Chapter Congress held at the Council Secretariat, Afaha Ikot Ebak, Senator Akpabio said the State and Federal Constituency cannot afford not having ranking lawmakers whose wealth of experience and seniority will help them attract more dividends of democracy back to the people.
The Senate President said his decision to ensure and support both the State and Federal Constituency to produce ranking members can be likened to the traditional atama soup, synonymous of tasting better and sweater the longer it stays in the pot, submitting that only be returning the two lawmakers back to the legislature will the people benefit from dividends of democracy at a much bigger and larger scale.
Responding, the Member representing Essien Udim State Constituency, Prince Ukpong Akpabio II, KSJI, thanked the Senate President for the endorsement, promising not my disappoint him or Essien Udim people. He reiterated his determination and commitment to work assiduously day and night towards the fulfillment of his campaign promises to his constituents.
On the Federal Constituency seat, Senator Akpabio noted with delight that allowing Dr Patrick Umoh go for a second term will not only break the second term jinx in the federal constituency but will also ensure that upon completion of his second term in 2031, Essien Udim LGA will without any hesitation or opposition from either Obot Akara or Ikot Ekpene LGAs, take her rightful turn at the Green Chambers for a straight and uninterrupted eight years term from 2031-2039.
Responding, an elated Dr Umoh thanked the Senate President for his fatherly love, support and solidarity over the years, and pledged his loyalty to Senator Akpabio, Essien Udim people and the Federal constituency.
He announced that as part of his Constituency project, he has already donated #300 million for the construction of a classroom block at Federal Polytechnic, Ukana, promising to do more to justify the confidence reposed in him and vowed not to disappoint both the Senate President and Essien Udim people.
Highpoint of the Congress was the election, through Consensus, of a 27-man APC Chapter Executive with Hon Nsikan Ekam popularly known as Abacha emerging as Chairman.
