Akwa Ibom State University, AKSU, has announced the approval of new undergraduate and postgraduate programmes by the National Universities Commission, NUC, with effect from the 2025 to 2026 academic session.
In a press release issued by the university, the institution said the approval covers a fresh list of academic programmes across several disciplines, opening up new study options for prospective students seeking admission into the state owned university.

The university listed 16 approved undergraduate programmes. They include Library and Information Science, Taxation, Industrial Chemistry, Education Computer Science, History, International Relations, Criminology and Security Studies, Water Sanitation and Hygiene, Intelligence and Security Studies, French, Hospitality Management and Tourism, Food Science and Technology, Entrepreneurship, Agribusiness, Environmental Engineering, and Petroleum Engineering.
AKSU also announced 16 approved postgraduate programmes. These include Political Science, Economics, Genetics and Biotechnology, English, History and International Studies, Civil Engineering, Electrical Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Marine Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, Fisheries and Aquaculture, Zoology, Agricultural Extension and Rural Development, Agricultural Economics, Computer Science, and Business Administration.
According to the university, the approval followed a successful resource verification exercise carried out by panels of experts to assess the human and material resources available for the establishment of the programmes.
The institution said applications are now open for admission into the newly approved programmes. It added that further details on admission requirements and application procedures would be communicated through its official channels.
