The All Progressives Congress has begun formal preparations for its 2026 National Convention with the inauguration of a Central Coordination Committee at the party National Secretariat in Abuja on Wednesday, February 25, 2026.

At the event, the party named Ms Usoro Akpabio, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the South South Development Commission, as Secretary of the Venue Committee, placing her in charge of venue planning and on ground logistics for the convention.
The inauguration drew senior party figures, national officers and members of the various sub committees, signalling the start of detailed organisational work ahead of the convention scheduled to hold from March 27 to March 28, 2026.
Speaking at the ceremony, APC National Chairman, Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, described the convention as a critical test of the party internal processes. He said the exercise must demonstrate discipline, openness and unity, while urging committee members to approach their responsibilities with professionalism and a strong sense of accountability.
Ms Akpabio appointment was presented as part of the party effort to strengthen operational coordination, particularly in areas requiring administrative rigour and effective execution. Party officials noted that her experience in managing large scale public sector operations would be central to delivering a well organised convention.
The Chairman of the Central Coordination Committee, Aminu Bello Masari, thanked the party leadership for the confidence placed in the committee. He assured members that preparations would be handled with focus and integrity, and appealed to party stakeholders across the country to support the process.
With the committee now in place, the All Progressives Congress is expected to move into full scale planning, as it positions the 2026 National Convention as a key moment in shaping its internal cohesion and future direction.
