Apple has announced a new entry level laptop called the MacBook Neo, a device designed to expand the company’s presence in the affordable personal computer market.

The new MacBook Neo departs from Apple’s recent laptop designs by using the A18 Pro processor, the same chip found in the company’s latest iPhone models. In recent years Apple has relied on its M series processors for Mac computers. The decision to use the A18 Pro chip signals a shift aimed at reducing cost while still delivering strong performance for everyday computing tasks.
According to Apple, the MacBook Neo features a 13 inch display and the company’s Magic Keyboard, along with a large trackpad designed to support multitouch gestures. The laptop also comes equipped with a 1080p FaceTime camera to support video conferencing and online communication.
Battery performance is another key feature of the new device. Apple estimates that the MacBook Neo can provide up to sixteen hours of battery life under typical usage conditions, a figure that places it among the longer lasting laptops in its class.
The company positions the MacBook Neo as a device for students, casual users and first time Mac buyers who require reliable performance for tasks such as web browsing, document work, streaming and online learning.
Industry observers say the move could strengthen Apple’s competitiveness in the lower priced laptop segment, where devices running Windows and Chrome OS have traditionally dominated. By offering a MacBook at a more accessible price point, Apple appears to be targeting a broader audience while maintaining the design and software ecosystem associated with its products.
The MacBook Neo is expected to become Apple’s most affordable laptop option, expanding the company’s hardware lineup and potentially attracting new users into the Mac platform.
