…Mr Oyetola said the arrival of the defectors would strengthen the party’s resolve to reclaim the state and restore dignity to governance.

Five lawmakers elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party have defected to the All Progressives Congress in Osun State.
The defectors include two senators and three members of the House of Representatives. They are Senator Francis Fadahunsi representing Osun East, Senator Olubiyi Fadeyi representing Osun Central, Wole Oke representing Ijesa North federal constituency, Omirin Olusanya representing Ijesa South federal constituency, and Taofeek Ajilesoro representing Ife Central federal constituency.
The lawmakers were formally received into the APC at a political gathering in Osogbo, the Osun State capital, attended by party leaders and supporters.
Speaking at the event, Gboyega Oyetola described the defections as a major boost for the APC in the state. He said the party remained open and inclusive and urged members to work together to reclaim Osun in the next governorship election and support President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general election.
The APC chairman in Osun, Tajudeen Lawal, said the entry of the lawmakers would strengthen the party’s structure across the state. He added that the APC was positioning itself for electoral success through unity and grassroots mobilisation.
The Osun APC governorship candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, also welcomed the defectors and called for cooperation among party members to achieve shared political objectives.
The defections further weaken the PDP in Osun and reflect ongoing realignments within the state’s political landscape as parties prepare for upcoming elections.
