Champion Breweries Plc has announced the successful completion of its acquisition of the iconic Bullet brand portfolio, marking a major milestone in the company’s ongoing strategic transformation.

The transaction was finalised following the receipt of all required regulatory approvals and the formal execution of closing documentation. A closing ceremony was held in Brussels to seal the deal, officially bringing Bullet into Champion’s brand portfolio.
The acquisition represents a significant step in Champion’s ambition to build a diversified, high-growth, and globally competitive beverage business.

Champion, which has operated for nearly five decades as a publicly listed company on the Nigerian Exchange, said the move expands its legacy of quality, resilience, and operational discipline into new, high-growth categories that will define the next phase of its evolution.
Strategic Rationale
According to the company, the acquisition was driven by several strategic considerations:
- Market leadership: Bullet Black is the leading ready-to-drink (RTD) alcoholic beverage in Nigeria, while Bullet Blue ranks among the country’s top energy drink brands.
- Pan-African footprint: The Bullet portfolio operates in over 14 African markets, offering immediate scale and a strong platform for further expansion.
- Financial resilience: Bullet’s foreign exchange (FX)-denominated revenues are expected to strengthen Champion’s financial position and support long-term value creation.
- Operational synergies: The deal is projected to unlock synergies across distribution networks, supply chains, and product innovation initiatives.
Champion described the acquisition as a transformative step that positions the company for accelerated growth across Africa and beyond.
The company also acknowledged the support of its shareholders, regulators, advisers, and strategic partners in bringing the transaction to completion.
With Bullet now part of its brand family, Champion said it remains committed to building a resilient, diversified, and globally competitive beverage business.
“The future is Champion,” the company stated.
