Google has introduced three new Gemini features for Google TV, adding richer visual responses, narrated learning guides and sports updates to the platform. The company said the new tools are designed to help users find information more quickly and explore topics directly from their television screens.
Under the update, Gemini will now tailor responses more closely to the question being asked. Users searching for sports scores may see live scorecards and viewing options, while those looking up recipes can be shown video tutorials. Google said the feature combines visuals, video and text to deliver more useful answers on screen.
The company is also rolling out what it calls deep dives, a feature that offers narrated visual explainers on topics such as health, economics and technology. Google said viewers can use the tool to explore subjects in more detail through interactive, guided walkthroughs and follow-up questions.
Google is also expanding its brief format to include sports. The new sports briefs will provide narrated updates and short summaries from selected leagues, starting with the NBA, NCAA basketball, NHL, MLB, MLS and NWSL. The company said the feature is aimed at users who want quick updates without following multiple feeds on their phones.
According to Google, richer visual help began rolling out on Tuesday to Gemini-enabled devices in the United States and Canada. Deep dives and sports briefs are also now available on Gemini-enabled devices in the United States, with wider device support expected later this spring.
Google added that the Gemini voice assistant for Google TV will expand to more countries later this year, beginning with Australia, New Zealand and Great Britain this spring.
