The member representing Ukanafun and Oruk Anam Federal Constituency, Unyime Idem, has announced plans to sponsor a new round of skills development programmes aimed at expanding job opportunities for young people across the constituency.

The initiative will cover two areas, solar power installation and digital marketing with e business development. A total of 200 constituents are expected to benefit, with one hundred participants selected for each programme. The lawmaker said the project forms part of his ongoing effort to equip youths with practical skills that can support self employment and long term economic stability.
According to details released by his office, the solar power installation training will run for thirty days. Participants will be lodged in hotels throughout the training period and provided with meals three times daily. At the end of the programme, beneficiaries will receive starter kits and financial support to help them establish their own businesses.
The digital marketing and e business development training will last one week. Participants will also be accommodated in hotels and catered for during the programme. Each trainee will be given a laptop and a cash grant to enable them to begin their digital businesses after completion.
To ensure fair representation, wards across the constituency have been asked to nominate participants through an agreed process. Each of the twenty four wards is expected to submit six names, three for the solar training and three for the digital programme. Ward elders must endorse the nominations, which should reflect the various villages within each ward.
The guidelines further state that individuals who have previously benefited from similar empowerment schemes sponsored by the lawmaker are not eligible for nomination. The process, according to the notice, must be open and inclusive.
Nominations are to be submitted on or before Wednesday 25 February 2026. Each submission should include the name of the nominee, their village and a WhatsApp enabled phone number. Completed lists with the required endorsements are to be delivered to designated coordinators in Ukanafun and Oruk Anam local government areas.
The two training programmes will run separately, starting on 1 March 2026 and concluding on 31 March 2026, the statement added.
