The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Professor Joash Ojo Amupitan, SAN, has reaffirmed the commission’s resolve to conduct credible, transparent and lawful elections across Nigeria.
Speaking at a meeting with Resident Electoral Commissioners in Abuja, Amupitan said the commission remains firmly guided by the Constitution and the Electoral Act in all its decisions and preparations for upcoming electoral activities.

He stressed that strict compliance with legal provisions and operational guidelines is central to sustaining public confidence in the electoral process. According to him, electoral integrity depends on transparency, professionalism and accountability at every level of the commission’s operations.
The INEC chair urged Resident Electoral Commissioners to demonstrate impartiality and diligence in the discharge of their responsibilities, noting that the credibility of national elections is built on the conduct of processes at the state level.
Amupitan added that lessons from previous electoral exercises are being incorporated into ongoing administrative and logistical improvements. He said the commission would continue to strengthen stakeholder engagement, voter education and collaboration with security agencies to ensure peaceful and orderly polls.
He assured Nigerians that INEC’s focus remains the protection of voters’ rights and the delivery of elections that reflect the will of the people.
The renewed assurance comes as the commission advances preparations for forthcoming elections nationwide.
