A Federal High Court in Abuja has convicted former acting Accountant-General of the Federation, Chukwunyere Anamekwe Nwabuoku, over a N868.46 million fraud case.

Justice James Omotosho delivered the judgment on Monday after finding Nwabuoku guilty on nine counts of money laundering.
The court sentenced him to eight years on each count, bringing the cumulative term to 72 years. The sentences are, however, to run concurrently.
Nwabuoku was prosecuted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission in a case centred on N868.46 million in public funds.
The conviction marks a major ruling in one of the recent high-profile corruption cases involving a former senior federal finance official.
