Former Jigawa State Governor Sule Lamido says he is ready to meet President Bola Tinubu if such talks would help Nigeria move forward.
Lamido made the remark during an interview at his Bamaina country home on Sallah day. He said he would be willing to engage with the President if the discussion was centred on national unity, progress and development.
He also dismissed claims that he had rejected an invitation to join the All Progressives Congress, saying no such offer was made to him.
According to him, any meeting with Tinubu should be driven by the national interest and not by partisan politics.
Lamido further denied reports linking him to the African Democratic Congress after images circulated online showing him with the party’s logo. He described the claim as a product of social media manipulation.
He said Nigerians must also accept responsibility for the choices they make during elections, noting that leadership outcomes often reflect the decisions of voters.
The former governor used the Eid-el-Fitr period to pray for peace, unity and stability in the country. He also called for divine guidance for leaders at all levels.
