Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has reaffirmed his commitment to good governance after he was nominated by members of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Ibiakpan Obotim Ward II as the party’s governorship candidate for the 2027 general election.

The nomination took place during the APC primary held at Government Primary School, Ikot Akpabin, Nsit Ubium Local Government Area.
Speaking shortly after the exercise, Governor Eno said the strong support shown by party members was a call to greater service. He said his administration would continue to work for the development of Akwa Ibom State under what he described as “Call to Service, Part Two.”

The Governor said the ARISE Agenda would be reviewed to identify areas that require further attention, adding that his administration was already working on ARISE Agenda 2.0 to consolidate ongoing development efforts across the State.
Governor Eno thanked God and the people of Akwa Ibom State for what he described as a historic political moment, noting that it was the first time the party would go into a governorship primary with only one candidate.
He commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, the President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, GCON, and members of the National Assembly for providing what he called the template for more open and transparent primaries.
According to him, the abolition of indirect primaries has made the process more free, fair and transparent.
“What you have done today is indeed a clear message for me to work some more, and I understand the message perfectly.
“I stand here to assure you that, by the grace of God, I will continue to put in my best in the service of this land, Akwa Ibom State,” Governor Eno said.
The Governor also thanked the leadership and members of the APC in Akwa Ibom State for the nomination and assured them that he would continue to justify the confidence reposed in him.
He reassured President Tinubu of Akwa Ibom State’s support for his nomination and re-election, saying the President should be given the opportunity to complete his development programmes for the country.
Governor Eno also expressed appreciation to Senator Akpabio for his support and assured him of the backing of the State in his re-election bid to the Senate and his return as President of the Senate in the 11th National Assembly.
He called on other political parties in the State and across the country to emulate the APC by conducting free, fair and transparent primaries.
The Governor urged candidates who may emerge from other political parties to focus on issue-based campaigns and avoid actions or statements capable of heating up the polity.
