The member representing Ukanafun/Oruk Anam Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Rep. Unyime Idem, has been named Best Federal Legislator in Nigeria by the National Leadership Awards.

The award ceremony was held at the weekend at the National Merit House in Abuja, where outstanding Nigerians were recognised for leadership and public service.
Idem, who was unavoidably absent at the ceremony, later received the award at the National Assembly Complex, Abuja, when a delegation from the organisers visited his office.
The delegation was led by the Secretary of the National Leadership Awards, Chief Cherry Okpara.

Presenting the award, Okpara said the honour was in recognition of Idem’s performance in the National Assembly, his constituency projects and his people-oriented programmes.
He said the lawmaker had shown commitment to effective representation, legislative excellence and grassroots development, adding that his work had earned him commendation from constituents and colleagues.
In his response, Idem thanked the organisers for the recognition and described the award as motivation to do more for his constituents and the country.
He reaffirmed his commitment to quality representation, saying his priority remained the delivery of democratic dividends through effective legislation and constituency service.
Other notable recipients of the National Leadership Awards included the Governor of Ebonyi State, Francis Nwifuru, senior government officials, captains of industry and entrepreneurs.
