The All Progressives Congress House of Representatives primaries in Akwa Ibom State were held on Saturday, May 16, 2026, with Governor Umo Eno commending party members for the peaceful conduct of the exercise across the state.

The primaries followed the adjustment of the APC timetable, which moved the House of Representatives primary election to May 16, while other scheduled primary elections remained unchanged.
Across the state, party members turned out at designated centres to participate in the exercise, which formed part of the APC’s preparations for the 2027 general elections.

Governor Eno, who had earlier appealed to party members to maintain peace, discipline and unity during the primaries, praised stakeholders, aspirants, delegates and supporters for conducting themselves in an orderly manner.
The peaceful atmosphere reflected the party’s internal mobilisation efforts and its push for cohesion ahead of the next election cycle.
Party stakeholders said the conduct of the primaries showed the APC’s growing stability in Akwa Ibom and the willingness of members to place collective interest above personal ambition.
The exercise also came after recent meetings by party leaders, where members were urged to avoid division and work together to strengthen the party’s structure across the state.
With the House of Representatives primaries concluded, attention is expected to shift to other stages of the APC’s primary election timetable as the party continues preparations for the 2027 polls.
The peaceful conduct of the exercise is being viewed by party leaders as a positive signal for the APC in Akwa Ibom State, especially as it seeks to consolidate its base and present a united front ahead of the general elections.
