…Governor Eno reiterated his commitment to finishing inherited projects that have clear public benefits
Governor Umo Eno has ordered the completion of the 18.96 kilometre Ikot Ibritam, Mbiaso, Inen Ekefe and Ikot Akpan Afaha road. The project began under the administration of former Governor Udom Emmanuel.
He issued the instruction in Ukanafun during the inauguration of the newly built General Hospital and the 2.2 kilometre access road in Ikot Akpan Nkuk, the headquarters of the local government area.
The order followed an appeal from the State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Elder Aniekan Akpan. Governor Eno commended the chairman for what he described as responsible and constructive engagement with government. The Governor stated that public criticism should guide development rather than attack leaders.

He explained that the enthusiasm shown by residents of Ukanafun encouraged him to approve the continuation of the Inen Ekefe road. He also praised the standard of work on the internal roads within the hospital complex. The Governor directed that the Inen Ekefe project be re awarded to AYF Construction in order to ensure better delivery.
Governor Eno restated that his administration will prioritise the completion of inherited projects that contribute to public welfare. He said his government would remain focused on development. He added that he intends to foster peace and reconciliation in public life. He warned against political confrontation and urged citizens to show respect for leaders.

The Governor commended the member representing Ukanafun and Oruk Anam in the House of Representatives, Elder Unyime Idem, for supporting government efforts through infrastructure and empowerment initiatives.
At the event, Governor Eno announced that the newly opened hospital will receive further upgrades. He approved the installation of an MRI machine as well as the establishment of a dialysis centre within ninety days. He said the facilities would reduce the need for residents to travel long distances for treatment.
The Governor reaffirmed that rural development remains central to the ARISE Agenda. He referenced the ongoing construction of thirty one cottage hospitals, thirty one model primary schools and other community projects. He also confirmed that the Ikot Ekpene International Market will be opened before the end of the year.

The Commissioner for Health, Dr Ekem John, praised the transformation of the health sector under the current administration. He noted that the Ukanafun General Hospital is equipped with modern diagnostic machines, a fully functional laboratory and residential accommodation for staff. He highlighted the construction of eighteen staff apartments under the Health Emergency Programme.
The Commissioner for Works, Professor Eno Ibanga, outlined the main elements of the access road project. The Pioneer Medical Superintendent, Dr Ekerette Sunday Dan, pledged to uphold high standards of medical care.
In recognition of the Governor’s investment in health care, the Paramount Ruler of Ukanafun, Akuku Amos Daniel Akpan, conferred on him the traditional title of Ette Nchong Idem which translates to Father of Good Health.
Stakeholders, including party officials, lawmakers and community representatives, delivered goodwill messages and praised the Governor for what they described as focused and compassionate leadership.
