The Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has extended his condolences to one of his aides, Engineer Solomon Eyo, following the death of his father, Evangelist Daniel Sampson Eyo, who passed away at the age of 70.

The governor conveyed his sympathy through his Special Assistant on Humanitarian Affairs, Elder Nsikanabasi Umoekpo, who led a delegation that included the Senior Special Assistant on Research and Documentation, Dr Essien Ndueso, to the family residence.
Speaking during the visit, Elder Umoekpo said the governor directed him to personally represent the state government in order to identify with the family at a time of grief. He noted that the governor places high value on the welfare of his aides and considers it important to offer support beyond official duties.
He encouraged Engineer Eyo and members of the family to remain united and resolute, assuring them that the governor shares in their sorrow and remains concerned about their wellbeing. According to him, the visit reflected the administration’s emphasis on empathy and people focused governance.
Elder Umoekpo described Engineer Eyo, who serves as Special Assistant on Multimedia and Website Management, as a committed public servant who has consistently discharged his responsibilities with diligence. He added that this record of service informed the governor’s decision to reach out to the family through his representatives and offer prayers.
Responding on behalf of the family, Engineer Eyo expressed gratitude to the governor for the condolence visit, describing it as a source of comfort and encouragement during a painful period. He said the gesture reinforced his belief in the governor’s accessibility and concern for those who work with him.
He also paid tribute to his late father, whom he described as a warm and compassionate figure with a strong commitment to community service, and expressed sadness that his passing came at a time when his guidance was still greatly needed.
Engineer Eyo announced that a night of tributes would be held on Friday, February 20, while the funeral service would take place on February 21 at Mbierebe Akpawat in Ibesikpo Asutan Local Government Area. He invited friends, colleagues, and members of the public to join the family in honouring the life and legacy of the deceased.
Members of the Eyo family, including his wife, siblings, and other relatives, were present during the visit.
