Senate President Godswill Akpabio has projected a decisive victory for the All Progressives Congress in Akwa Ibom State during the 2027 general elections.
Akpabio made the prediction in Essien Udim Local Government Area, his home council, following the emergence of new party executives through a consensus process. He said the exercise reflected unity within the party and growing acceptance of the APC at the grassroots.
According to him, traditional rulers and community leaders in Essien Udim have pledged their support for President Bola Tinubu and Akwa Ibom State Governor Umo Eno ahead of the next general elections. He described the endorsement as a strong signal of the direction of political support in the area.
Akpabio urged party members to maintain cohesion and focus on strengthening local party structures. He said unity at the ward and council levels would be critical to delivering electoral success in 2027.
The Senate President also noted that Essien Udim is one of the most populous local government areas in the state. He expressed confidence that the council could contribute a significant number of votes to the APC, citing voter registration figures and current political sentiment.
He commended Governor Eno for sustaining peace and stability in Akwa Ibom State, adding that a calm political environment would further enhance democratic participation.
Akpabio concluded that the mood across Essien Udim and neighbouring communities points to strong momentum for the APC as preparations for the 2027 elections gradually take shape.
