Akwa Ibom State is set to receive Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, on Saturday, 7 March 2026, for the inauguration of the state’s senior citizens centre.

Governor Umo Eno gave the indication after inspecting the facility ahead of the official opening, expressing confidence that the centre would be properly managed and sustained over time.
Speaking with Government House correspondents after the inspection, the governor said he was impressed by both the quality of the project and the management framework already put in place for its operation.

He said building the facility was only part of the task, adding that effective management would determine its long term value. He noted that based on what he had seen, he was confident the centre would serve its purpose for many years.

Governor Eno also praised the contractor, U and K Integrated Service Limited, for delivering the project on schedule and to a high standard.
He described the centre as part of his administration’s broader plan to improve the welfare of elderly residents by establishing dedicated care facilities across the state.
The governor called on residents to attend the inauguration ceremony and also participate in the International Women’s Day celebration scheduled to hold at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, where the First Lady is expected as special guest.
