Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has restated his administration’s commitment to advancing reforms in the power sector and attracting investment into maritime infrastructure to strengthen the state’s economy.
The governor spoke at Victor Attah International Airport on his return from the United Kingdom, where he joined President Bola Tinubu on a state visit.

Addressing Government House correspondents, Eno said the trip created an opportunity for discussions with potential investors, particularly in the power sector, and expressed confidence that the engagements would yield positive results for Akwa Ibom.
He said his administration had already taken deliberate steps to reposition the power sector while continuing efforts to deliver the Ibom Deep Seaport project.
According to him, both sectors remain central to the state’s long-term economic growth plan, although progress requires sustained work and patience.
Eno said the government had recorded notable progress in its power sector reform efforts, but added that the process would take time before residents begin to feel the full impact.

He also expressed concern over the current power challenges affecting the country and said his administration remained determined to improve the situation in Akwa Ibom.
On the Ibom Deep Seaport project, the governor appealed to residents to remain patient, assuring them that the government was committed to seeing the project through.
He said the state had continued to engage investors and had completed payment for the feasibility studies for the seaport, describing this as part of the necessary process required to move the project forward.
The governor said the administration shared the public’s desire for quick results in both the power and maritime sectors, but stressed that major projects of such scale require due process and careful execution.
He maintained that progress was being made steadily, adding that investor interest in both the Ibom Deep Seaport and the power sector remained encouraging.
Eno said the government would continue to pursue its development agenda with focus and persistence until the desired results are achieved for the benefit of the state and its people.
