
Rep. Unyime Idem, member representing Ukanafun-Oruk Anam Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, has announced a scholarship programme for 200 undergraduate, master’s and PhD students from the constituency for the 2026/2027 academic session.
Idem, who also chairs the House of Representatives Committee on Public Procurement, said the scheme is being offered through the Unyime Idem Education Scholarship Programme as part of his commitment to the educational advancement of constituents.
According to the announcement, the scholarship is open to applicants from Ukanafun-Oruk Anam Federal Constituency who are studying full-time in Nigerian federal universities.
The eligible fields of study are sciences, engineering, economics, accounting, law, and computer science or computer engineering.
The announcement stated that the scholarship is full and will cover tuition, accommodation and living expenses. It added that only full-time students are eligible, while part-time students cannot apply.
For undergraduate applicants, eligibility is limited to students in 200 level and above. Required documents include evidence of WAEC, SSCE or NECO results showing at least five credits, including English Language and Mathematics, obtained in not more than two sittings. Applicants must also submit their university admission letter, valid student identity card, last school fees receipt, first year or preceding year academic transcript duly signed and stamped by the Head of Department, Exams Officer or any other authorised staff, certificate of indigeneship showing state of origin and local government, NIN card or slip, and a personal statement of at least 1,000 words explaining the reason for undertaking the course of study.
For master’s applicants, the requirements include a full-time admission letter into a federal university, valid student identity card, last school fees receipt, and a minimum of Second Class Lower in first degree. The announcement added that a Second Class Upper gives an advantage. Applicants must also have at least five credits in WAEC, SSCE or NECO results obtained in not more than two sittings, with the results preceding the first degree. Other required documents are NYSC certificate or letter of exemption, certificate of indigeneship showing state of origin and local government, NIN card or slip, and a personal statement of at least 1,000 words stating the reason for undertaking the course of study.
For PhD applicants, the conditions include a full-time admission letter into a federal university, a minimum of Second Class Lower in first degree, with Second Class Upper also listed as an advantage, valid student identity card, last school fees receipt, and a minimum of merit in a second-degree certificate. Applicants must also present WAEC, SSCE or NECO results with at least five credits obtained in not more than two sittings and preceding the first degree, NYSC certificate or letter of exemption, certificate of indigeneship showing state of origin and local government, NIN card or slip, and a research area considered relevant. In addition, PhD applicants are required to submit a research proposal of not more than six pages.
Applications are to be submitted in an envelope at the Unyime Idem Skills Acquisition Centre, No. 3 Barracks Road, Ukanafun Local Government Area.
The application window opens on March 29, 2026, while the deadline for submission is April 12, 2026.

The notice also stated that Rep. Idem will not be liable for deferment, change of institution, or change of course. It added that the federal lawmaker reserves the absolute discretion to make final selections in line with the stated criteria and his personal consideration.
