
Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno, has secured approval for a bonded terminal in the state following a meeting with the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, in Abuja.
The governor said the terminal would help reduce the cost of doing business, improve the handling of goods and strengthen Akwa Ibom’s position as a growing aviation and logistics hub.
He said the approval would support the state’s preparations for international operations at Victor Attah International Airport, Uyo, and create fresh opportunities for trade and investment.
“This terminal will further position Akwa Ibom as a strategic gateway for commerce in Nigeria and the Gulf of Guinea as we prepare for international operations at the Victor Attah Airport, Uyo,” Eno said.
Adeniyi commended the governor’s development efforts, especially in the aviation sector, and said such projects could support economic growth and regional connectivity.
The governor was accompanied by senior officials of the state government, including Secretary to the State Government, Enobong Uwah, Commissioner for Internal Security, retired General Koko Essien, Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Frank Archibong, Commissioner for Works, Prof. Eno Ibanga, Commissioner for Information, Aniekan Umanah, and President-General of the Arise with Renewed Hope Initiative, Uwem Okoko.
Also present at the meeting were Assistant Comptroller-General Mohammed Shuaibu and the Director of Legal Services, Smart Akande, among other Customs officials.
