The Labour Party faction led by Senator Nenadi Usman has fixed April 28, 2026, for its national convention and formally notified the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, of the timetable for its 2026 elective congresses.

In a letter dated March 31, 2026, and addressed to the INEC Chairman, the party outlined plans for ward, local government area and state congresses ahead of the national convention. The notice was jointly signed by Caretaker National Chairman, Nenadi Esther Usman, and Caretaker National Secretary, Darlington Nwokocha.
According to the schedule, ward congresses will hold nationwide on April 23, while local government area congresses are set for April 24. State congresses will follow on April 25 across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
The party said its national convention would take place on April 28 at the International Conference Centre, Umuahia, where national executives are expected to be elected.
Labour Party said the revised timetable followed an earlier postponement aimed at allowing broader participation by members and completing its ongoing digital membership registration. It also asked INEC to acknowledge the notice and direct its state offices to monitor the congresses and convention in line with its statutory responsibilities.
The party said the exercise was being conducted in line with the Electoral Act 2022, as amended, INEC guidelines and the 1999 Constitution, adding that it remained committed to transparent and credible internal processes.
