The Supreme Court has invalidated the national convention of the Peoples Democratic Party held in Ibadan, Oyo State, on November 15 and 16, 2025.
In a split judgment delivered on Thursday, three of the five justices on the panel dismissed the appeal filed by the Tanimu Turaki-led faction of the party.
The majority held that the appeal lacked merit, effectively affirming earlier decisions that faulted the conduct of the convention.
The ruling marks another major twist in the leadership crisis within the PDP, as rival factions continue to battle for control of the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The Ibadan convention had been challenged over alleged procedural breaches and internal party violations. The dispute later moved through the lower courts before reaching the Supreme Court.
The apex court’s decision now leaves the affected convention without legal force, pending further political or legal steps by the party.
