The Executive Chairman of the Akwa Ibom State Universal Basic Education Board, SUBEB, Rt. Hon. Anietie Etuk, Ph.D, has charged contractors handling SUBEB projects across the state to accelerate work and ensure quality delivery before the peak of the rainy season.

Etuk gave the charge on Monday, May 18, 2026, during a meeting with contractors at the SUBEB Conference Room, where ongoing projects were reviewed and timelines for completion discussed.
Addressing the contractors, the SUBEB Chairman commended those who had recorded progress on their project sites, but urged all contractors to treat their assignments with seriousness and ensure that they vacate sites before the end of June.
He said the board would not accept substandard work, stressing that all projects must be executed with durable materials and delivered in line with approved specifications.
Etuk warned contractors against the use of poor-quality materials and advised them not to compromise standards in their dealings with technical officers.
According to him, the projects must be completed before July, when the rainy season is expected to intensify. He added that inspection visits would begin in June to assess the level of progress and the quality of work done.
The Chairman also advised contractors to use durable finishing materials, including Ibom Paint, to enhance the appearance and longevity of the projects.
He urged them to protect the image of the office that awarded the jobs, noting that the intervention reflects the commitment of the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Eno, to improving basic education infrastructure across the state.
Etuk thanked the Governor for the timely payment of counterpart funds, saying the gesture had strengthened the board’s capacity to pursue quality and timely project delivery.
He called on the contractors to align with the board’s timeline and standards to ensure that SUBEB schools are safe, functional, and ready for use before the heavy rains set in.
