President Bola Tinubu on Friday held talks with businessman and philanthropist Tony Elumelu on economic reforms aimed at easing the burden on businesses and improving power supply across the country.
The meeting, which took place at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, focused on tax reforms designed to support small and medium scale enterprises, which the administration considers central to job creation and economic growth.
Speaking after the meeting, Elumelu said discussions centred on how ongoing fiscal reforms could create a more enabling environment for businesses, particularly by simplifying taxes and reducing costs for entrepreneurs.
Power supply also featured prominently, with Elumelu noting that reliable electricity remains critical for the survival and expansion of SMEs. He said the president acknowledged challenges in the sector and reiterated the government’s commitment to resolving outstanding issues affecting power generation and distribution.
Elumelu added that improved policy coordination between the public and private sectors would help stabilise the economy and attract further investment.
He expressed confidence in the administration’s reform agenda, saying sustained engagement with business leaders was necessary to translate policy decisions into measurable economic gains.
