Governor Umo Eno has said Akwa Ibom State remains on course for the commencement of international flight operations at Victor Attah International Airport, Uyo.
Speaking to Government House correspondents after a review meeting and inspection of the new terminal building, the governor said work was progressing and that the state was addressing key requirements ahead of the planned start of international operations.

He said the administration was working to ensure that all critical items on the checklist of the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority are fully in place before the airport begins handling international flights.
Eno commended the project handlers for the level of progress recorded so far, but said some identified gaps still require urgent attention to speed up the process.

According to him, airport operations require every necessary detail to be completed, and the state is moving to close the outstanding gaps.
He also noted that some equipment needed for the project is being sourced from outside Nigeria, a situation he said has contributed to delays in some areas.
Despite this, the governor said the project remains on track.

Eno also called on the Managing Director of Ibom Air, George Uriesi, and his team to bring their experience in the aviation sector to bear in supporting the state’s plan to position Victor Attah International Airport as a regional aviation hub.
The Victor Attah International Airport, located in Uyo, is central to the state government’s broader transport and economic development plans.
