The All Progressives Congress will host 8,453 delegates at its national convention scheduled for March 27 and 28 at Eagle Square in Abuja, Minister of Information and National Orientation Mohammed Idris has said.
Idris disclosed this on Thursday during an APC world media briefing in Abuja. He said the delegates would come from across the six geopolitical zones, describing the turnout as a reflection of the party’s national spread and organisational strength.
He said arrangements had been concluded to accommodate all accredited delegates, adding that the movement of delegates and committee members from different parts of the country had so far been smooth.
Idris also said no incident had been recorded in the build-up to the convention. He linked this to what he described as an improving security situation and ongoing infrastructure development across the country.
The minister said a media centre would be set up at the venue to support coverage of the convention. He added that media organisations would be accredited to ensure effective reporting of the event.
The APC convention is expected to bring together party leaders, delegates and stakeholders as the ruling party reviews internal matters and prepares for future political activities.
