The All Progressives Congress, APC, has returned Nentawe Yilwatda as national chairman and Ajibola Basiru as national secretary at its fourth elective national convention held at Eagle Square in Abuja. Reports from the convention said the two officers were returned through the party’s consensus arrangement for national offices.

The convention drew senior figures of the ruling party, including President Bola Tinubu, Vice-President Kashim Shettima, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Speaker Tajudeen Abbas, APC governors and other party stakeholders. Channels Television reported that the gathering formed part of the party’s effort to renew its national leadership structure ahead of the next electoral cycle.

Before the convention, party officials had indicated that the APC would retain its zoning formula and rely largely on consensus in filling key national working committee positions. That arrangement paved the way for the return of Yilwatda and Basiru, alongside other officials elected at the convention.
The convention also attracted thousands of delegates from across the country. Separate reports put delegate participation at more than 8,000, with official figures cited ahead of the event ranging from about 8,450 to 8,453 delegates.
The outcome keeps the party’s top administrative leadership in place at a time when the APC is expected to consolidate its internal structures and prepare for future political contests.
