Akwa Ibom State Governor Umo Eno has defended his decision to join the All Progressives Congress, saying he has no regrets and that the move has helped align the state with the Federal Government.
In his Easter Sunday broadcast, Eno said his administration has recorded progress across key sectors under the ARISE Agenda, including agriculture, electricity, tourism and road infrastructure. He said the state has begun to benefit from its alignment with the APC-led Federal Government under President Bola Tinubu.
The governor said his administration’s achievements since taking office in 2023 include more than 1,300 kilometres of roads, made up of inherited projects as well as roads initiated and completed by his government. He added that all 31 local government areas have been reached through projects such as roads, model primary healthcare centres, model primary schools, feeder roads and general hospitals, including one in Ukanafun.
Eno also said the state plans to construct solar-powered rural water projects in all 369 wards to improve access to clean water in rural communities. He added that youth-friendly centres are being built in about 14 local government areas in the first phase, with a focus on ICT and creative industries.
He urged residents to embrace the values of love and sacrifice associated with Easter and to continue supporting his administration. He also called for politics based on conviction, not confrontation or division, as political activities begin to gather pace.
By The Nation report, the remarks were made during the governor’s Easter Sunday broadcast delivered on April 5, 2026.
