President Bola Tinubu has appointed former senator Ibrahim Ida as Chairman of the Corporate Affairs Commission and nominated seven new federal commissioners for the National Population Commission, according to a State House statement issued on Monday.
The statement said the nominations are subject to confirmation by the National Assembly. It added that the appointments are intended to fill vacant commissioner positions at the National Population Commission.
The nominees for the National Population Commission are Kolawole Oladipupo Alabi for Ekiti State, Nasiru Mu’azu for Zamfara State, Usman Abubakar Tuggar for Bauchi State, Dr Isaka Alada Yahaya for Kwara State, Prof Sadiq Isah Radda for Katsina State, Suleiman Umar for Jigawa State, and Hon. Chiso Abdullahi Dattijo for Sokoto State.
Ida holds an MSc in Banking and Finance from the University of Ibadan, obtained in 1983, and an LLB from the University of Abuja, obtained in 2003. Before his election to the Senate in 2017 to represent Katsina Central, he served as Katsina State Commissioner of Finance and later as a Permanent Secretary in the Federal Civil Service.
President Tinubu also appointed Dr Yusuf Mohammed of Kano State as Chairman of the Federal Polytechnic, Kaltungo.
In a separate appointment, the President confirmed Bala Mohammed Bello as Special Adviser on Political Economy.
Bello, who is from Taraba State, holds a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and an MBA from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. The statement said he previously served as Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria and as Executive Director, Corporate Services, at the Nigerian Export-Import Bank from 2017 to 2022.
