The Akwa Ibom State Government says Governor Umo Eno will commission the newly built Ibom Agricultural Equipment Leasing Facility in Uyo on Wednesday, April 29, 2026.
The event is scheduled for 12 noon at Ekpri Nsukara, Uyo.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, the Commissioner for Information, Hon. Aniekan Umanah, said the facility was developed under the Ministry of Agriculture and the Agribusiness Unit of the Governor’s Office.
Umanah said the project is part of the administration’s plan to accelerate mechanised agriculture and support commercial farming across the state.
He said the facility is a key component of the Agricultural Revolution pillar of the ARISE Agenda, which also covers the Food Security Programme, farmers’ grants, Ibom Model Farm, Tree Crop Revolution and other initiatives.
According to the statement, the Ibom Agricultural Equipment Leasing Facility will serve as a hub for agricultural mechanisation. It will provide equipment leasing, land preparation services and technical support to farmers, cooperatives and agribusinesses.
The facility has administrative buildings, a fully fitted maintenance workshop, tractor sheds, tractors with accompanying implements, and two low-bed trailers for equipment deployment and field operations.
The government said the project is expected to bridge the mechanisation gap, improve agricultural productivity, strengthen agricultural value chains and create jobs.
It added that the facility would support the state’s drive towards food security, economic diversification and sustainable growth.
The government invited stakeholders, members of the farming community and the public to attend the commissioning.
