Francis Ngannou made a dominant return to mixed martial arts with a first-round knockout victory over Philipe Lins at MVP MMA 1 in Inglewood, California.

The heavyweight contest ended at 4 minutes and 31 seconds of the opening round after Ngannou landed a powerful left hook that brought the fight to an immediate finish.
Ngannou started aggressively, using heavy kicks and sharp punches to put Lins under pressure. Lins attempted to slow the fight through wrestling, but Ngannou defended the takedown attempt, gained top control and continued to impose his strength and power.
Lins briefly returned to his feet and tried to exchange, but Ngannou remained composed. As both fighters separated from a clinch, the former UFC heavyweight champion landed the decisive punch, ending the bout before any follow-up attack was needed.
The victory marked Ngannou’s first MMA fight since 2024 and reinforced his reputation as one of the most dangerous punchers in heavyweight combat sports.
After the fight, Ngannou praised Lins’ toughness but maintained that he remains the best heavyweight in the world. He also hinted at possible future high-profile matchups, including a long-discussed fight with Jon Jones.
The result improved Ngannou’s professional MMA record to 19 wins and three defeats, while Lins suffered the sixth loss of his professional career.
