Rivers lawmaker Manuchim Umezuruike has dumped the All Progressives Congress, APC, for the African Democratic Congress, ADC, just months after joining the ruling party. He is currently attending the ADC convention in Abuja.

Umezuruike, a known ally of Governor Siminalayi Fubara during the Rivers political crisis, was one of four lawmakers who moved to the APC in December 2025 in what was widely seen as support for the governor’s bid to strengthen his influence over the party structure in the state.
The other lawmakers who joined the APC at the time were Boniface Emerengwa, Awaji Abiante, and Boma Goodhead.
Meanwhile, there are unconfirmed claims that the affected lawmakers may struggle to secure return tickets, allegedly because of their backing for Fubara over former governor Nyesom Wike during the political standoff in Rivers State.
