US President Donald Trump has given Iran 48 hours to reach a deal on reopening the Strait of Hormuz, warning that failure to do so would trigger a harsh American response. The warning was issued on Saturday through his Truth Social account and was reported by Vanguard.

Trump said the deadline followed an earlier ultimatum he issued on March 26. In his latest message, he said time was running out and warned that “all Hell” would be unleashed if Iran did not act.
The threat came amid a worsening regional crisis centred on the Strait of Hormuz, a strategic waterway that handles about one-fifth of global oil trade. Recent Reuters reports said Iran had maintained tight control over traffic through the strait, while allowing limited access for vessels carrying essential goods.
The wider conflict has also intensified military tensions between Washington and Tehran. Reuters reported that the United States is searching for a missing pilot after aircraft losses linked to the confrontation, while Iran has signalled only limited openness to talks through mediation.
Any prolonged disruption in the Strait of Hormuz could have major consequences for global energy markets, shipping, and wider regional stability.
