Yusuf Buhari has declared his intention to contest for a seat in the House of Representatives ahead of the 2027 general election.
He is seeking to represent Sandamu, Daura and Mai’Adua Federal Constituency in Katsina State on the platform of the All Progressives Congress.
His declaration was contained in a letter dated April 3, 2026, in which he said the decision followed consultations. He said his ambition was driven by a desire to provide quality leadership and contribute to the development of the constituency.
Yusuf Buhari said he hopes to promote infrastructure development and support human capital growth across the federal constituency if elected.
His declaration came days after stakeholders of the APC in Sandamu Local Government Area reportedly endorsed him as their preferred candidate for the seat.
The endorsement followed a meeting of elected officials and political appointees from across the constituency at the Sandamu Local Government secretariat.
Sandamu council chairman, Usman Na-Lado, was quoted as describing the endorsement as a collective decision by party stakeholders.
The meeting also reportedly reaffirmed support for President Bola Tinubu and Katsina State Governor Dikko Radda ahead of the 2027 elections.
Yusuf Buhari’s entry into the race adds a new layer to the political build-up in Katsina as parties and stakeholders begin early positioning for the next general election.
