Governor Umo Eno on Tuesday chaired Akwa Ibom State’s March Projects Delivery Meeting in Uyo, where he reaffirmed his administration’s focus on timely project execution, agricultural expansion and reforms in the power sector.

At the meeting held at the Banquet Hall of Government House, Uyo, the governor said his administration was pursuing 86 priority projects outside road construction, hospitals and schools. He called for closer coordination among ministries, departments and agencies to improve results and service delivery. He also directed the setting up of an inter-ministerial committee to drive the completion and commissioning of Youth Friendly Centres.
Eno also spoke on electricity supply in the state, saying the current challenge reflects low power generation across the country. He said the state government was working with relevant stakeholders and pursuing reforms aimed at positioning Akwa Ibom to take control of its power market and improve supply.
The governor approved N2.5 billion for the purchase of more than 620,000 palm seedlings for distribution to registered farmers in all 31 local government areas. The approval followed a presentation by the Agriculture and Food Security Committee. Eno said the initiative forms part of efforts to strengthen agricultural productivity and support economic growth in the state. He added that the programme would be formally launched at a later date.
A total of 55 projects were reviewed during the session, with timelines and commissioning dates agreed for each of them. Among the projects examined were the Governor’s Office Annex, AKWA-GIS House, Ibom International Convention Centre, Ibom International Hotel, Itam Industrial Park, the International Market in Ikot Ekpene, rehabilitation of the AKADEP head office, Youth Friendly Centres, Arise Palm Resort, One Project Per LGA Phase 2, Judiciary Village, Chairman’s Lodge, the 350-bed International Hospital, Tree Crop Revolution, the Security and Command Centre, AKBC House, the Court of Appeal Complex, major airport infrastructure, Ibom Farms, Arise Shopping City, the Agric Equipment Leasing Company, and Ibom Hotel and Golf Resort.

The Commissioner for Works also presented an update on road delivery. The governor was informed that another 10 roads, covering 58.5 kilometres, had been completed and would be commissioned in May 2026. The roads are part of more than 1,300 kilometres of road projects being undertaken across the state.
The meeting was attended by senior government officials and other stakeholders, including Deputy Governor Akon Eyakenyi, Secretary to the State Government Enobong Uwah, Executive Assistant and Chief Delivery Advisor Aniefiok Johnson, commissioners, delivery advisers, and other top officials.
Representatives of women and youth groups, alongside political and community leaders, commended the administration’s management of public resources and urged the governor to sustain the pace of delivery. Former Deputy Governor Nsima Ekere and state APC Chairman Stephen Ntukekpo were among those who praised the administration’s performance.
In his closing remarks, Eno thanked participants for their contributions and said his administration would remain committed to delivering projects under the ARISE Agenda for the people of Akwa Ibom.
