Member representing Ukanafun/Oruk Anam Federal Constituency, Unyime Idem, has announced plans to sponsor selected local government workers from the constituency on foreign training programmes in India and Japan.
Idem announced the plan on Friday when members of the Workers Forum, Ukanafun/Oruk Anam Federal Constituency, paid him a surprise visit at his residence to mark the 2026 International Workers’ Day.

He said the training programme was part of his efforts to strengthen effective service delivery at the grassroots by exposing local government workers to global best practices in public administration, innovation and efficient service delivery.
According to him, the beneficiaries would be expected to return with improved knowledge and skills that could be applied in their respective local government areas.
Idem said investment in human capacity development remained one of the most sustainable ways to strengthen governance and improve the quality of public service.

He commended the workers for their dedication, resilience and contributions to grassroots development, assuring them that their welfare would continue to receive priority attention.
The federal lawmaker also urged the workers to sustain their support for government at all levels and to mobilise their colleagues, families and communities to participate actively in the electoral process.
He specifically called on them to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Governor Umo Eno, himself and other candidates of the All Progressives Congress in the forthcoming elections.
Earlier, the workers, under the aegis of the Workers Forum, Ukanafun/Oruk Anam Federal Constituency, commended Idem for what they described as effective and inclusive leadership.
The forum, led by its Chairman, Ukeme Umoren, and Secretary, Inimfon Paschal Etuk, said workers in the constituency had benefited from several programmes facilitated by the lawmaker, including foreign training, ICT training and the N1 billion family-based empowerment initiative.
The workers passed a vote of confidence on Idem and endorsed him for another term in office, citing his contributions to the development of the constituency and his responsiveness to their needs.
They also extended their endorsement to President Tinubu, Senator Akpabio, Governor Eno and members of the State House of Assembly from the area.
The forum pledged to mobilise its members and work for massive support for the APC candidates in the 2027 general elections.
