The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, NNPC Ltd, says Nigeria’s crude oil production has risen from a historic low of 960,000 barrels per day in 2022 to an average of 1.71 million barrels per day, with peak output reaching 1.84 million barrels per day in 2025.
The national oil company attributed the increase to the establishment of an integrated energy security system for pipelines in the Niger Delta.
NNPC made the disclosure in a statement on pipeline security and production performance, saying the intervention had helped improve crude output after a sharp decline recorded in recent years.
The company said the enhanced security framework for oil infrastructure in the Niger Delta played a key role in protecting pipelines, reducing disruptions and supporting production recovery.
Nigeria’s oil production has faced pressure in recent years from pipeline vandalism, crude theft and operational challenges, particularly in the Niger Delta, the country’s main oil-producing region.
NNPC’s latest position points to improved coordination in pipeline protection efforts as a factor behind the rebound in daily output.
